Have you ever walked away from love?
Yes!? Then you know its bittersweet taste.
Jade has been called by Chinese poets “the concentrated essence of love”.
Well, all that sounds like a Historical Romance novel to me, and Shehanne Moore writes the best .
Art Gown, Jade, is lovingly dedicated to Shehanne.
If anyone knows the twists and turns of romance, it is she.
It all began with 2 vintage decorator pillow shams. My friend, Kat, found them in Wiarton’s Goodwill – 220 km. north of Toronto. She sent them to me.
I wasted no time pinning one onto Judy. It was a natural. Last year Kat sent me 40 pounds of fabrics, much of it stored for up to 25 years. In the poundage was a generous yardage of 60″ wide green polyester faux silk.
That was cut on bias and hung for 2 weeks. I harvested miles of ribbon from an old gown. It was marked with needle holes, so I gathered it to hide the flaws.
The faux silk had been cut without blunting the bottom for a hem. The points were picked up, and attached onto the bodice. This meant no fabric was wasted, and I sewed (by hand) 420 inches of seams & 660 inches of hem.
540 inches of ruffled salvaged ribbon was sewn onto the hem. The decals from the 2nd pillow sham were cut out, and positioned strategically onto the gown. Then began the fun of designing the bustle.
Jade is a dream to drape. That polyester faux silk is like fabric butter. However, it does not biodegrade like butter.
Front lit or backlit, she shines.
OUTTAKES

I’m a huge fan of Shehanne’s books. I’ve read all but one, so far. These are just 5 of her titles. Click on the banner to go to her Amazon page!
D. Wallace Peach – Myths of the Mirror has just read “Loving Lady Lazuli”. Her review will appear in her next books review.
However, you can read it NOW! Just click on the book cover!
I read if you hit a piece of jade, it rings like a bell. Whether for pleasant listening or for ritual practices, chimes, xylophones, and gongs have been created from melodically resonant jade.
I kept hearing this song while doing the post. Maybe because Sade looks like Jade, but an “s” instead of a “j”. When I learned about jade being resonant, I put it in.
On top of it all, Timothy Price – Off Center Not Even sent me a gift of LED lights with 4 filters: red, orange, yellow and blue. Jade is the first Art Gown learning lesson. I experimented in night, and day.

As Jade retires to the plant room, I’m mini Jade here to say thank you for popping by & come again!
Author D. Wallace peach’s review of Loving Lady Lazuli
Loving Lady Lazuli by Shehanne Moore
Ten years ago, Sapphire, the infamous London jewel thief, slipped the Wentworth emeralds into the pocket of an unsuspecting young lord. Caught with the jewels, Devorlane Hawley spent ten years serving in the military, which included getting shot. At the end of his service, he returns home to find a very familiar face at his welcoming party.
Cassidy Armstrong feigns innocence and concocts a series of lies that unravel as quickly as she can think them up. Retired from her years as Sapphire, she’s on a mission to prove that she’s the heir to the Armstrong estate, but in order to do that, she needs to scour a stack of paperwork entrusted to you-know-who… Devorlane. Bent on revenge, Devorlane agrees to let her search through the documents as long as she agrees to become his mistress for the duration of her search.
These characters dislike each other intensely (despite their attraction), and that conflicting dynamic plays out for most of the book as they attempt to irritate each other. Multiple POVs give glimpses into both characters’ thoughts and motivations as well as their ambivalence. As always with Moore’s romances, there is plenty of witty humor, and to me, the action/thoughts around sex were more entertaining than the act itself.
Secondary characters are colorful and distinct, adding complications and personality outside the main conflict. The pace is snappy, and I read the book in one sitting. Highly recommended to readers who enjoy witty characters, enemies to friends romances, and a wild plot.

Thank you for sharing this interestingly creative post, meh bonnie Shey! To hear how this elegant gown began from humble beginnings and found its way to the extraordinary hands of Resa is a compelling novel in itself.
Hug the disappointed dudes for me, hopefully someone will make them each a beautiful gown. 😃💕💕
Resa drew a hamster Splendor actually after one of my ladies and the dudes got all antsy that she hadn’t drawn every one of them. Like them. Not my ladies! It is amazing to see who she did this which was another reason to share the post cos it shows the work , the hours that have gone into this.
We’ve come a long way since Hamster Splendor!
You are now an AGM (mermaids in the next episode)
Can hardly wait to draw your next heroine.
Tell the dudes to stop crying! The salt in the tears leave stains. xoxoxoxoxoxo
Oh we have indeed come along way from Hamsta Splendor xxxxxxxxxxx I will get them blindfolded if they don’t can the tears. xxxx And you will be drawing my next heroine very soon now.
Thank you for re-linking! 🌟
You’re so welcome! I would love to see more of your designs.😍
Thank you!
On my Art Gowns blog, there are 28 gowns. Pics of all but Jade are on the sidebar. If you click on a pic, you will go to the post on that gown. 😍
Thank you, Resa! Can’t wait to take a look! I have a writing assignment, as soon as I finish I’ll be taking a stroll through your blog. xo 😃♥️
Likewise!!!

Ah, my film design blog! Thank you, Shey! xxxx

An absolutely spectacular gown like the one Resa created would leave any hamster speechless, albeit involuntarily. 🙂 Thrilling that such a beautiful dress was dedicated to you and your books, Shehanne!
it is beyond thrilling. I’m just gob smacked still. It’s just so beautiful. i keep looking at the pics with my jaw on the ground.
Understandable reaction. 🙂
OHH! I adore you! … jaw and all! xoxoxo
Adore Shey’s books. It’s mostly her heroines. They are centuries ahead of the times!
The adoration is mutual and my heroines adore the fact you draw them xxxxxxxx
Wow! So incredible! Shey definitely deserves a gown in her honor, and Resa you are so incredibly talented! I love that line about how the faux silk is so smooth like butter but doesn’t biodegrade. I bet the dudes would be all over that dress!
I have had to remove their little furry paws and claws. Isn’t it incredible though? Resa is amazing. I’m so humbled that she did this. I’ve been speechless since!
xoxoxoxoxoxo
Thank you, Ka!
I worked on the gown for months. Who but Shey or one of her heroines could wear this colour? Also, off prime greens were some of the first dyes. Dye made from saffron and then soaked in blue dye from the woad plant was popular with the Egyptians.
Unfortunately, a green just like this was available from 1778, in the eras Shey writes of. It was made from arsenic, and …well ….
Well…. we can’t have my heroines dying of arsenic poison now can we…. ? And I certainly wouldn’t want my lovely Resa working all these hours on anything so damaging to herself xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I mean…how did they think to use arsenic?
They used the arsenic green dye for wallpaper, as well. Puts a new meaning on “Home is where the heart is” (was).
I think they regarded it as semi wonderful to start with. I remember reading it was in wallpaper and you used to get these murderers who got it out of fly papers actually.
Wow, super interesting, Resa!!! I mean so amazing and perfect 😍
I love hearing the history of a color/
Wow! Beautiful, and I love the way you showed how it was made, Lucky Lady Lasuli. ❤
Resa is absolutely amazing. Very talented and generous with it too xxxxx Thank you ellis for coming by , reading and commenting xxxx
Thank you! I adore Shey. She lured me in with the heroines in her fabulous books.
And I adore you my darling. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxoxoxoxox
*gasp* What a gown! Such a remarkable statement.
Isn’t it amazing. Resa isn’t just talented she’s so generous with it and her time. I was gobsmacked when i saw it
I like that… a statement! Thank you Annette!
Nice post for a beautiful Resa’s gown, even the hamsters are almost overwhelmed 🙂
I promised her I’d nail them down…. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Thank you for visiting and sharing Resa’s original post.
TY, JMR! However, don’t trust the Hammies. They could be faking it until no one’s looking. xx
Yeah. I got the binoculars trained on them
👍🔭 (couldn’t find a binoculars emoji. Just another emoji failure!)
Sob sob. Shey jist sed, emogeees ir as painful as us….
the duds.
Well, at least there is a hamster emoji! 🐹
thir kinnit be fir we have nivir seen it Sob sob ……….
Absolutely stunning gown, and what a creative talent. How lovely to have it dedicated to you, Shey – that’ll put Lady Fury’s nose out of joint!
Yeah…I’m waiting for her NOT to notice. Isn’t it gorgeous though. Resa is amazing and so generous with her time. xxxxx
Thank you, Cat!
Ohh, I adore Lady Fury!
Gee, hope there’s no extra corpse size boxes in the basement? (kidding)
It was such a joy dedicating this to Shey!
Oh she did like her box in the basement, I’m sure that in reality she kept gowns in them……. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hehehehe! Lady Fury needs as many gowns as she can get! So does Splendor and Destiny. Lady Lazuli needs a lot, too. OMG They all need boxes of gowns! YAY!!!!!
Oh they ARE gown ladies, They do like to dress well, even though Destiny makes out she is but a widow, while lazuli may dress as one too, her crow’s feathers are the finest. as for Fury??? Well? And Splendor? They’d take the shop. The newbie, Eternity would too but I mean that she would literally nick it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
xxxxxxx Philip, thank you xxx
Hi Shehanne and you are welcome! Wishing you and family a wonderful new week…😊☀️🌴⛱☀️😊
You too Philip. x
Resa did such a fantastic job creating Jade. It makes everyone green with envy. Jade is a marvelous and well deserved dedication to you and your characters You would look phantasmagorically beautiful wearing Jade, painting the light fantastic with a multitude of dreamy greens, bending and blurring our sense of reality. In simple terms, Magical.
Aw Timothy. You have just made my day truly. You’re a gem so you are xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Resa did a wonderful fabulous job.

I know you do. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
That gown sighs Shehanne! It would look great on a book cover… I’m glad the hammies are minding you. 😏xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxx
They are under lock and key…… xxxxxxxxxxxx it would look epic on a cover.
A book cover! My dream come true.
I need to find someone to model this.
Shey, IF – I do find someone… and take pics, you are under no obligation.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

She’s amazing. I love her to bits. She’s also so generous with her time xxxxxxxxxxxx
I see what you mean…
Thanks a lot for your lovely reply
Making Jade, and knowing she would be dedicated to Shey was a joy.
Thank you so much, Luisa!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Resa, you are the best x
xoxoxoxoxoxo you too!
You’re such a great artist!💙💙💙
💙💙💙💙💙💙
I second that Luisa. She’s epic.
What a stunning gown and post! I’m stunned and speechless!! That doesn’t happen very often. Loved this! ❤
Thank you from my heart, Colleen! I make about 2 Art Gowns a year. Lol, I can’t sew by hand any faster.
I’ve waited quite a while for the right fabrics to come along that inspire a gown for Shey. When the 2 pillow cases arrived in the mail, I knew this was the one. xx
Resa, you are so gifted. What a lovely piece of work. ❤
The color is epic. xxxxd
Colleen, I am speechless too and that is saying something. It’s just so beautiful. I know and love everything Resa makes but even this took me by surprise. It is just so lovely I keep coming back to look at it. Resa is amazing. xxxxx
Wow!! I agree. She has artistic vision. I bet it’s stunning in person. The material drapes in just the right places! 😍
it does and the color is gorgeous.
Stunning! I want to wear it to the next opera season!
OOh… It is gorgeous isn’t it xxxxxxx
Out of this world! You and your books deserve nothing less, dear Shey!
Dolly xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx you truly. Very kind of you. xxx
Thank you!
Opera Season!
Oboy!
My next Art Gown will be for Charlotte Hoather, Soprano.
She actually needs gowns, lots of them. So, I’ve already amassed the fabrics &. she has sent me measurements.
It will be the first Art Gown I send to someone to wear. I won’t get to fit her, but I believe I can pull this off.
Tim has offered to help with shipping fees.
Whew…first I’m taking a bit of a break!
Oh my lord, Charlotte is epic. What a voice . I can’t wait to see it x
Yeah!!!
Well, the season usually features four operas, so I need four gowns. Of courses, Covid did away with half of the season, so I still had two gowns to wear this past season, when they resumed.
As to not getting to fit her, I confess that my wedding gown had been draped on a mannikin and fit me like a glove.
Your work is sensational!
Thank you so much!
I never liked opera much, until I met Charlotte. I love her voice and she is a very animated performer. So, she lured me in. Oannes plays a lot of classic music on his music blog, a lot of opera. That has enhanced my affection for opera.
I think my big turn off to opera was listening to Faust for my first time.
I know I can do this gown on my Judy!!
Have a great opera season!
Thank you, darling! I can’t wait to see Charlotte’s gown.
I am the same as you Dolly. She has a wonderful voice.
I looked her up on Youtube; yes, she does.
My goodness Dolly, you love your operas sure enough. Wounderful xx
Shey – Jade captures the essence of your heroines – courageous, determined, noble and have a clear purpose. Green jade is related to well-being and longevity. The universe knows where Resa lives and seems to sent magical cloth to her doorstep. I am reminded of being in a fairytale when I visit her place. Oh my dear dudes – I am so grateful for the invitation to your Voddie f-f-f-ree zone.
rebecca xxxxxxxxxxxxxx for the lovely comment. The universe does indeed know where the magical Res a lives and the fairy tales she brings to life. I love that she captured my ladies here and it is so kind of you to know them too xxxxx
Rebecca!
I agree with you, and I thank you!
I do attempt to capture something of everyone I dedicate an Art Gown to.
Yes, magic is at my doorstep. I’m so happy I found it before someone at the bus stop I live by took off with it! 😉😘
LOL!!!
My closet career wish is stand up comic!
Listening to Collen Chesebro!
Rebecca I bet you’d be epic x
Dudes,
…. forced to say dedicated to Shey … FORCED?
You know what I think? I think you love Shey so much that you can’t stand anyone else loving her.
Get used to it. She is very loved! …landsakes… dudes are cute but crazy!
Well…we all knew they’d whine, no matter what they said, they’d whine, moan, sob and complain. Cos of course EVERYTHING has to be about them! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
That’s what happens when you’re too cute for your cossack boots!
xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Lol…. They can dance their paws off next time xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Aaah. How beautiful. I saw this post at Resa’s but, of course, without the introduction by the hamsters. They did pretty well staying out of the post and not making it all about them. 🙂 Resa’s gown are stunning. I love this one and perfect for your historical romances. I’m delighted that my review came over too. It will be in my Thursday blog post. Congrats on the lovely dedication, Shey. ❤ ❤ ❤
LOL…..they were well told to button it cos it would have been whine whine and moan and I asn not having Resa’s lovely work spoiled by them! Resa’s gown are amazing. Love the color of this one. Thank you so much Diana for all your support. and your lovely comment xxxxxxx
My pleasure. ❤
xxxxx
Diana!
A million thank you’s for letting me use the review~
Jade was a joy to make. Even better is how happy Shey is with it.
You are both amazing writers! xo
I’m glad the hamsters didn’t trample all over the post, Resa. Lol. Thanks for the kind comment – it’s a mutual admiration society over here. ❤
xo Works for me!
Well…my two darlings, nothing like a bit of that. Too many people just want to knock others down instead of celebrate their achievments xxxxxxx
I’m into the celebration!! xoxoxoxo
I know I am among lovely, intelligent ladies that way xxx
xoxoxo

You are always so kind and supportive. I know a lot of folks are having trouble with WP. Have a wonderful week too.
Wow, what a wonderful gown! Reza is simple perfect in creating such dreams. Thanks for sharing, Shehanne, and have a good week! xx Michael
Thank you so very much, Michael! xx
Resa is brilliant. I’m so thrilled with this, I had to share the magic she weaves.
Wow, absolutely stunning. And I must add, I was taken aback when I saw the two pillow shams. They look EXACTLY like the ones I gave away to goodwill when I moved and gave away half my life last year. Lol ❤ xx
Good ness. Seriously? It is like a message actually. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The gown is beautiful. Still can’t believe it.
Lol right? And yes, abso gorgeous! xxxxxx
I just sometimes think things work in mysterious ways. But nice ways. xxx
What an absolutely stunning dress. How cool is this xxxxxxx
isn’t it amazing? Resa is a genius. Truly.
Was carried away by the beautiful pictures of the gown, Thumbs up to Reza👍❤️
Such an adorable post❤️
It is lovely isn’t it? Huge thumbs up to her and thank you xxxxxx
Sure ❤️
Oh, what a beautiful gown and so interesting as to how it was made! Resa I admire your talent! ❤
Isn’t it breath stealing? I loved hearing about how it was made.
So did I. She is very creative.
She just loves creation xx
What a simply stunning gown. I am not really a fan of this colour green, but this gown is amazing and I might just change my mind.
Oh it’s a stunner Robbie. Resa is amazing. I was just saying to Leslie below I wore this color to my older girl’s wedding. i never told resa that so when she said she’d got the shanks and sent me a piccie I was gobsmacked. Lovely to see you.
I remain in awe of this gown. There was a time, when I was very slender and had a shapely neck, that I might have been able to wear such a gown. Although it’s probably made for a woman much shorter than I. Still, I imagine it must be heavenly to wear.
I think it would wonderful to wear. I keep imagining it. Like you I am in awe xxxxxxx
It would look amazing on you.
xxxx you’re too kind. You know I wore this color to my older girl’s wedding. I got the outfit online from a corset shop in Shanghai….
How beautiful! I loved hearing the story of this gorgeous gown. I am glad the dudes didn’t eat it 🙂
Isn’t it lovely. She’s amazing and I loved ever detail of learning how she made it. The dudes were NOT getting near it. xxxxxx
Another smashing bit of glamour by Resa and what a better pairing than a Shehanne-inspired bit of romance. Cheers 🥂 to you two talented ladies! ♥️
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx oh mighty talented lady yourself. I love the gown and I’m still gobsmacked she did this. xxxxxxxxxxx
It’s a testament, all right! Take the lovely compliment and run with it!♥️👏🙌😘💃🏻🤣
